    John Forte: Revealed

    Wednesday, August 5th, 2009

john-forte2John Forte – you might know him from when he came into our office for a little acoustic jam, or from his work with the Fugee’s or his challenges with the criminal justice system.

This guy is pretty phenominal and Rock the Vote’s Suzy Greer had a one-on-one conversation about the state of our health care system, his new album and is thoughts on life.

    It’s a great read. Enjoy.

    John Forte Visits RTV

    Friday, July 17th, 2009

John Forte stopped by the office this morning after his show last night at the Birchmere in Alexandria, Va… and to say it was awesome is an understatement. Instead of writing about it, here are a few videos of the impromptu acoustic performance LIVE from our scrappy conference room and a short clip about his work with Rock the Vote.

If you haven’t checked him out, you need to. This guy is so talented and has a powerful story of why he’s involved in politics. His new disc, StyleFREE the EP, was just released. Run, don’t walk, to get it (it’s that good).

    Blink 182 and You

    Wednesday, July 8th, 2009

Want to be part of the Warped Tour, Rock the Bells, RTV Night Concerts, or the Blink 182 tour when it rolls through your town? Of course you do.

At festivals and concerts throughout the summer, Rock the Vote Street Teams will register voters, recruit people to get involved with RTV, and hand out some RTV swag. And you get to hang out at the show for FREE. That’s good times.

Click here to sign up to join the Street Team: http://www.rockthevote.com/volunteers/summer-09-volunteer-1.html

Last year, more young people went to the polls than at any other time in the history of our country. Young voters were the difference in the election – RTV helped register 2 million of them – and it happened because of people like you on the ground. We know how important it is to register people to vote. Now, we need to keep adding young voters to the roles, make sure that people stay registered (especially if they have moved since November) and get them involved in the big things that are happening across the country.

After you sign up, we will be in touch and get you everything you need — sign-up sheets, clipboards, voter registration forms, RTV buttons and stickers, and all of the set-up materials. You are the best.

    RIP, Michael

    Friday, June 26th, 2009

Since he was 8 years old, Michael Jackson has managed to set the world dancing. His songs were unmistakable with a catchy beat and high-pitched choruses. His moves left audiences in awe as he defied the laws of gravity with his legendary and often imitated moonwalk. His fan base is one of the biggest and his influence reaches every corner of the music world.

Today you are more likely to see Michael Jackson’s face on the cover of a tabloid rather than the cover of the Rolling Stone. His reputation tarnished in the past decade due to his antics, legal troubles, and ever changing looks. Despite the recent negative image of Michael Jackson, he cannot be denied as one of the greatest artists of our time. His Thriller album is still to this day the greatest selling album of all time, reaching around 60 million copies sold worldwide. His songs “Billie Jean” and “Beat It” will forever be in the iPods of music lovers around the world and despite his reputation, millions of people were clamouring to see his comeback.

Michael Jackson remained even in his final days the King of Pop. And no matter the scandal, they couldn’t take that away from him.

    RIP, Michael.
