On Thursday, July 8th a crew of Rock the Vote and New Era Colorado volunteers hit the streets of Denver for a bar crawl. New Era Colorado, a youth civic engagement organization and Rock the Vote partner in Colorado, has been doing the “Roll Call” bar crawl for years. Not your average bar crawl, a Roll Call brings together classic bar hopping and civic engagement.
Like any group of people heading out to the bars we all dressed to impress. However, instead of the more traditional designer jeans or latest pair of Manolo Blahnik’s, we went with soccer uniforms and roller skates. Nothing breaks the ice like rolling up to a group of people looking game-ready and asking if they are registered to vote. In a few hours we were able to have a great time and register some young voters that hadn’t planned on registering to vote when they headed out for a night on the town.
We are already planning another roll call for the near future. So hit up live.rockthevote.com to see when you can join us. Theme suggestions for the next event are welcome.
