Iran now has its very own version of will.i.am and the ‘Yes We Can’ video.
Mams Taylor, a musician with family and roots in Iran decided that more had to be done in response to the crisis in Iran. So he teamed up with some of Iran’s most notable musical artists – including Dariush, Satar and Morteza – to create the song “United for Neda.” (For those not super familiar with the Iranian music scene, the 3 musicians listed here are the most famous/iconic singers in Iran’s history…kind of like having Elton John, Stevie Wonder, and Justin Timberlake do a track together.)
The song is inspiring and the video features even more Iranian superstars: Shila Vosough (Actress), Shoreh Aghdashloo (Oscar nominated actress from House of Sand and Fog), Kamy R (Singer from Black Cats – most popular singing group in Iran), Sussan Deyhim (Singer), Parviz Sayyad (Actor/Poet), Kamyar & Payam Jaffari (Rappers). The video was shot entirely on cell phones to mimic the footage coming out of Iran. This is important as its something that’s never been done before and especially not with this caliber of artists.
Please watch the video and spread it far and wide. Proceeds from the song and video will go to a charity that Mams is setting up to support young Iranians in their struggle for democracy.
Wow. Wow.
Check it out…
