Rock the Vote teamed up with the ROOTS

This past Saturday in Los Angeles, Rock the Vote teamed up with the Grammy Award-winning band, THE ROOTS to present the 5th Annual Roots Jam Session, a continuous 5-hour concert that allows major music superstars and breaking bands to perform live and unrehearsed with musical backing from one of Rolling Stone’s “20 Greatest Live Acts In the World.”

The Jam Session opened with a knockout “drum off” between ?uestlove and Travis Barker. Later in the night, the ROOTS and Fall Out Boy’s Patrick Stump’s performed their version of “Walking on the Moon.” The crowd enjoyed impromptu performances from Seal, Corrine Bailey Rae, Bilal, Raheem DeVaughn, Eric Balfour’s Born as Ghosts, as well as a Doug E. Fresh and American Idol’s Blake Lewis’ beatbox battle.

In the audience, we saw Prince, Missy Elliot, Raven-Symoné, Fall Out Boy, Gym Class Heroes, Journee Smollett, Nia Long Solange Knowles, Ryan Phillipe, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Goapele, Sanna Lathan, Will.I.Am and Brian Michael Cox all partying the night away until 4 AM.
