This year, rather than showing you why different celebrities are going to vote, we want you to tell us why you’re voting. We’re asking the question, “Why vote?” with the hope that you’ll tell the world what makes you want to Rock the Vote. Simply put, we want to hear your statement.

I'll be very curious to see if there are any younger voters who post to this website and say that it's conservitive ideas that motivate them. Ideas like lower taxes, reforming social security, stopping infanticide (aka abortion), protecting America by winning the War on Terror, stopping illegal immigration, more opportunity for everyone through fewer government regulations and health care governed by the market and not insurance companies/the government, to name a few.
There never seems to be enough real debate about issues...campaigns are run on smear tactics, soley to discredit the opponent.

Good question!! The reason I sing is that I honestly and truly feel that this is what I was born to do. As a wondrous creation of the Creator of the Universe, I know that times can be tough sometimes!! It feels like life is doing all it can to destroy our spirit of love that enables us to enjoy so wondrously all that we have been designed to recreate!! But still, we musn't give up. We truly and honestly musn't!! Sometimes when I've had a tough day, I like to soak myself in a bath, and reflect on that image that was set before me on a gloomy fall day four years ago.
I saw Lucifer riding his dragon of terror, seeking to destroy all who opposed him. But I heard a voice, begging me to but whisper a song of joy that would spell doom for the prince of darkness. I couldn't sing!! Was I afraid? I truly don't know. But I felt a rage, a humble rage bellowing within me, and I saw it clearly at that moment. I would learn to sing!! And to this day I know that my voice sends shockwaves of despair through the Cosmos, as Lucifer himself tries to shake free of the awesome wonder of all the precious voices joining in one song. His time nears an end, as long as I, and you, keep singing. This I know.
That is why I sing. Wonderful!!
Where I live, Australia, it is mandatory to vote. It is probably the major difference between the US democracy and ours. Although a lot of people whine about it, I think that it is a pretty good idea. You can't complain about the ruling class if you don't actually bother to have your say.
Although if you live in a safe Labor electorate like me, your say isn't worth much really. It is only those that live in swinging electorates that seem to get any money spent on them.

Yeah, voting is important here in the UK kind of seems pointless though the only two parties that can win are practically the same. Both stand for the same things but oh well still better than apathy i guess.

Rock the Vote!
If you don't vote, don't complain. Those of us who have done our civic duty, regardless of our feelings for the government, should have every right to praise or complain to our elected officials.
I simply vote because, historically, few people have had that right to influence change, no matter how little we might affect it in a representative republic. It's better than many of the alternatives. In most parliamentary democracies, you just get to vote for the party, then they choose their candidate. And remember, we've only been able to vote for senators since the early 1900's... before that they were all appointed.
Let us also not forget that many a soul has died for our right to vote. At least honor them, if nothing else.
If you want to honor them, then know what you're voting for. There's nothing wrong with not voting if you can be honest with yourself and admit that you don't understand the issues or the candidates at hand.
Voting doesn't give you the right to complain if you didn't understand what you were voting for, because you didn't actually contribute to the system.
This is a unique one, going to work out.

The reason I'm voting?
I'm sick and tired of the poor leadership and scandals that are ubiquitous in both the Republican and Democrat parties, so I'm voting a straight third-party ticket to show that I'm fed up!
It's high time for a change, and voting for the same two old parties which really aren't that much different isn't going to make it happen.
If you're fed up too, I encourage you to vote third party also. Here are some options: Libertarian, Reform, Constitution, and Green.

Will your vote count? Will your vote matter? the answer is yes and yes. It is time to stop with the mindless spin, colorful backdrops at speeches, and made for media packaging. Our country is at stake. We need to fix the national debt issue. Do not fall for "well, as a percentage of GDP..." If I am making $25,000 a year or $80,000 a year, carrying a big balance on my credit card means that I am getting credit card companies rich... the US is making China rich.
We must be agressive in moving away from fossil fuels. This mean not just new vehicles, but also a greater use of solar and wind, zero energy homes, green manufactuing with lower costs of production to make America competitive again.
Finally, we must provide universal health care for every American. To start, we should cover all Americans 0 - 18 years old, by allowing people to buy-in to Medicare and Medicaid. This is the cheapest segment of the population to insure. We can then insure everyone else with a series of public private partnership, but life and death should not be a money making business.
Please VOTE!!!!!! (Hopefully for change... aka Demcrat).

Please vote George Bush Jr. out of office. As a former soldier who served under his father,Mr. Reagan and the Great President Bill Clinton. I'd only serve under one of these men if I had the chance again...you don't have to be a "Rocket scientist" to figure it out. Bush Jr. has gotten so many young kids hurt and killed. I don't see how he can sleep at night. The bottom line is that he,Cheney,Rumsfeld want oil. Condi is too stupid to know the difference and punk Powell got out before they forced him out!

The reasons I vote are simple....
1. I vote in hopes that one day we will find a leader that will protect the minority and the majority both.
2. I vote so religion and state do not become one...because anyone knows God is againist forcing people to believe in him or his ways or he wouldnt have given the world Jesus.
3. I vote In hopes that I will find someone who will tell us he or she will try and gives up hope then tell us he will do and give us empty promises.
4. I vote In hopes we will find someone who respects all americans and their beliefs.
5. I vote In hopes of finding someone who will protect our country's soul which is our freedom.
6. and I vote to find someone who will respect the world the way we would want to be respected.

NO VOTE for Peter Roskam (Illinois 6th Congressional District – U.S. House)
Peter Roskam isn't the candidate we think he is. There is a "telling" issue within his campaign that speaks directly to the type of candidate he is. . .an individual that can not directly face conflict, can not move individuals to work as a team, and can not prioritize issues over self interest. Here is the incident that supports the claims above.
A female campaign worker, who worked for Peter in his State of Illinois office and moved to the campaign at Peter's request, was working on an important RNC issue at campaign headquarters. Elizabeth Roskam (who I believe has aspirations of being the next Hillary Clinton) came in and redirected this person to stop everything she was doing in order to address a matter that was clearly of lesser priority, as it only concerned one individual, versus the RNC which impacted thousands. The campaign worker, who is no novice in local area politics, was taken by surprise and made an attempt to explain the project that she was working on and its importance to Mrs. Roskam. When Mrs. Roskam persisted, the campaign worker requested that she, "wanted to hear it from Peter" rather than Mrs. Roskam. At this point Elizabeth Roskam went on a tear, and berated this loyal campaign worker, who didn't even try to make any further attempts to defend her position.
So Elizabeth Roskam tore off and got Peter, who explained to the campaign worker that what Elizabeth says. . .goes, for she is the "co-candidate" in this campaign.
Now the story goes on and the campaign worker, although she tries, just can not continue to work for this candidate that is "standing on the wrong principle" in order to keep peace in what appears to be a broken household. She tries to contact Peter directly to issue her resignation and work on a transition plan, however, Peter does not respond. In fact he avoided her and the entire campaign headquarters for over THREE WEEKS, just to avoid any further conflict. This campaign worker had to work through individuals in Springfield just to get a response on specific release issues that were of importance.
To top things off, the campaign workers husband was also working within the campaign, more on the financial side, which is where his expertise lies. Shortly after his wife departed, he was asked to leave. Of course, Peter Roskam did not even have the intestinal fortitude to sit down with this individual personally and have a discussion. For it was deemed (by Elizabeth) that if one was a "traitor" they must both be "traitors", and that is essentially the facts as I know them.
After I listened to this story in amazement I wondered. . .what does she have on him? "Our candidate" is being controlled and does not seem capable of standing up for what is right even within his own campaign. If you notice, Elizabeth is making her presence known virtually everywhere, and I'm sure will continue to do so. For she has declared herself the co-candidate, and in her berating of that campaign worker, she was the one that likened herself to Hillary Clinton.
While I can not in good conscience support the Duckworth campaign, what I do support is a NO VOTE for Elizabeth, oh, I mean Peter Roskam. I urge you to do the same.

Young people should vote not only in the higher level races, but also in local government. This man, Al Zucaro, stands for the people of the City...not the developers, not the big money hitters - so much so that HE has set his campaign policy to limit the amount of contributions to $100.00 per contributor as opposed to his deep-pocketed opponent.
If you are a RESIDENT of the CITY OF WEST PALM BEACH, and are a registered voter,we NEED your signature on petition cards in order to get on the ballot and give the current mayor a run for her money!!!!! In case you did not know, a candidate may take the easy road, pay $7500.00 and have their name placed on the ballot. The other option is to hit the pavement go to neighborhoods, talk to people, listen to people and get your name on the ballot the old fashioned way.
