New research on "Gen Y" from Greenberg Quinlan Rosner and Polimetrix:
For those coming of age during a period where it seems there is no longer any safe haven, it begs the question: is this just the way it is? For those trying to search for an explanation in a time of chaos, one has to wonder: is this a sign the end of the world is at hand? This is the third part of our ongoing investigation into Gen-Y. In this study, we explore Gen-Y’s attitudes toward the future, their level of uncertainty in a world of uncertainty: how safe do they feel today amidst a new round of disasters, do they trust our government to protect us, and do they hold an apocalyptic vision to account for the spate of recent disasters?

How safe do I feel today....The more we hide behind the guise of preserving liberty in order to spurn president's Bush's attempt to stop terrorism at home the less safe I feel. I know, I know, insert your classic Ben Franklin misquote "Those who would sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither"; unfortunately the actual quote is "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." You can also see this quote at the bottom of the statue of liberty. Anyway, I digress; I would like to see America a little less sensitive to people’s feelings and a little more focused at stopping another 9/11. If listening to my boring conversations with my brother about how the Eagles sucked this year helps to fight terrorism, then by all means listen away.
Do I trust my Government to protect me….In trying to stop terrorism, I feel the Government is making a commendable effort but there is still much to be done. My encouragement is in no way a get out of jail free card for the areas in which we are lacking (Border Control, lack of profiling, better overall foreign policies). I would like to see more effort placed on tightening the controls around entry to this country. In most other areas, I do not feel the Government is doing what is in our best interest (Social Security, Federalizing disaster relief, education, unfair tax system…etc.).
Vision for the future…Until America gets sick of the current state of things, I foresee the government continuing to increase in size and scope, the deficit continuing to rise as current liabilities under the pay as you go social security system and Medicare balloon, an increase in taxes as the government's horrible excuse of solution and the slowing of the economy as a direct result.
Right On Mike!!!
Shut up Hans, you're a tool!!!
This Blog Sucks
At least when Hans and his ilk ram through their massive tax hike, we can all move to a low-tax haven like Estonia or Slovakia.
Perhaps I should start looking into real estate in Bermuda?
